I know I'm a little late to the party on this, but what say you re: the new Rodarte for Target collection?
I'm not crazy about all of it, but (most of) the tulle pieces just make my little heart sing. For example, the other day on Jezebel, I saw this photo of Natalie Portman:
And I was so smitten with that dress!
But (since I've been out of the loop for the last year or so on Target's designer collaborations) I didn't know that the dress I admired so much was totally obtainable and cheap-y. It was only after searching Ebay for vintage dresses, and having the dress (which comes in mustard, blush, and black) randomly come up in my search that I realized it was from a Target line!
So now I have the mustard (which seems to be sold out on Target's website) coming to me in the mail, and I went to our local store today and snagged the light pink one. The quality isn't fantastic, but the tulle isn't scratchy, it's comfortable -- and the price is so great, I can't quibble too much. It's such an ethereal little confection, it'll be great with cardigans now, and so pretty by itself come Springtime. Now I'm deliberating over nabbing the black one, too - and maybe this navy skirt.
I seem to get tulle-crazy around this time in the Winter (I remember I did last year, too). I don't know what it is - maybe tulle seems Winter-y and Spring-y all at once? It's frothy and layered like pretty frost (and reminds me of the Nutcracker), but at the same time, it's ethereal, light and not exactly warm. It's so fun to layer up a party dress with a cozy cardigan and tights, knowing it will have a completely different life in 6 months.
