I think everyone knows that I often have little/no use for Anthro in the Spring/Summer months. As much as I bludgeon my bank account in the Fall and Winter over there, I feel like it gets a little too preppy and crisp and big-floral-y in that neck of the woods for my particular proclivities. But I was poking around today and found a few things I love:
Actually, now that I'm looking at them together, they might make for a very quirky-sweet outfit!

The new one, with a cryptic message on it, was purchased in Portland at the incredible Flutter, which is a perfect Emily-store if ever I've seen one. It's from a local lable called Frocky Jack Morgan, and I love what it says (the mystery is part of the wonderful-ness).

Sometimes I think about dressing in terms of a story or a place/environment. Monday, I thought I would assemble these three kind of unexpected pieces (silk blue slip-dress, gravelly knitted camisole, and silver vintage slip) and see how it worked...
And voila! By their combined transformative powers, I became very fairy-like indeed.
Or at least like a Medieval maid.
But the kind with liquid eyeliner.
Remember the hotly debated flats from a few weeks ago?
Well, I went with the Eccos, and they are fantastic. They are this beautiful patent-nail-polish-bright-rich-red that makes me happy every time I look down at my toes. Plus, I bought them just before our trip to Portland so I could hoof it around the city all day and still be comfy, and they fit the bill just right.

I found this pretty vintage brooch on Etsy, and I couldn't get it out of my mind. Try as a might, it was hooked into my imagination...so, at long last, I made it my own.
I wore it a few days ago with a dress I got in Portland at Seaplane, made by Prairie Underground. I love the combination of fabrics and the enormous pockets (if only I was good at skippin' stones, it would be the perfect dress for gathering them).

My eyes kinda fell out of my head when I saw this jersey dress from Stewart + Brown...I mean, it looks like many of my girls' dresses (like her, or her) because it has a peter-pan collar, but dropped down from high on the neck.
This (to me) makes it more grown-up and enticing, and hey! It's jersey. My favorite fabric for a dress (excepting maybe silk). I've got to admit that this dress is already mine...it came in the post about a week ago. While a bit on the pricey side for a jersey dress, it is so beautifully made and the organic cotton is soft as a kitten.
Perfect, perfect.
I'm already projecting it will attain wear-once-a-week status in the impending warm months.
Thanks for all the help with the flats. I'm expecting the red Ecco's at my doorstep at any moment, and if they fit nicely, I'll have to consider the grey ones!
This pinafore-sun dress is so darn pretty. I replaced the cheapy nylon ribbon that was plaguing the front (it's from Forever 21) with a pretty crimson velvet one.
I thought the sleeve detail looked so pretty with the lace sleeve of the blouse I wore underneath.
