So, I will just level with you. In 2-ish years I've been a part of Etsy, I have to admit that I've been consistently depressed by the "Clothing" category situation. Yes, if I was still in my cutesy-felt-applique tee phase (which is actually what I was making when The Black Apple was born), I could find lots of cute wearable stuff. There are some cool screen-tees, but all in all, nothing for me.
And then, I found it. My perfect-Etsy-clothes store.
I love it so much that I had horrid selfish feelings of wanting to keep the amazing Tif aka Dottie Angel a secret. But now that I have successfully purchased lots of her wonderful slips and products (including a beautiful custom job she did for me!) I feel like there is nothing left to do but shout it from the rooftops (the blog-rooftops)! I collect and love vintage slips, and wear them every day (under dresses, to sleep, around the house doing my best Maggie-the-cat impression) but I've never been able to wear them out of the house without feeling slightly odd (even if I am wearing 2 or 3 layers of slips with a cardigan, it seems that it still doesn't equal a sundress in some people's minds). So her slips are just what I needed, beautiful, embellished slips that need to be seen and that hopefully won't prompt people to say, as this old-man-customer at my old video-store job did:
"Where's that little girl that's always wearin' her nightclothes?"
I think that I own about 6 or 7 of her pieces now, but this is me in the last few weeks, sporting various Dottie Angel items.
Here are a few details (because the beauty of her things really is in the details) from her Etsy shop:
She also makes things besides the embellished slips, like beautiful felted cuffs (one of which I proudly own), totes, pillows, etc.
Three cheers for Tif, and other people making genuinely quirky, beautiful, affordable clothes!
