Thankyou Thankyou Thankyou

Some_girls_2239

Thank you for all the overwhelming kindness and support and reassurances yesterday.

Aaaaand thanks to the great Dave from me (and all of us, really) for uploading the video from the
Martha show yesterday!!! Just follow the link!

EDIT: Google removed the video for some reason, but I just checked and it's here on the official Martha site, so no worries!

Now all of you Aussies and folks who had to be at work (and had to miss the grandeur that is daytime television) can watch us make the dollies, and watch me make about 100 strange and hilarious facial expressions that I didn't know I had prior to yesterday .

Hurrah!

Martha Tuesday!

Martha_show2

The teaser is now up on her site for the "Black Apple" show on Tuesday, the 11th (which is tomorrow)...
Check your local listings for times!

!!!

PS: If anyone DVR's it, and manages to upload it online (to Youtube or the like) please let me know!

PPS: As a few people have noted, it will be up on the Martha site a few days after it airs...so even if it doesn't appear more quickly, we can count on that!

Bonjour!

Some_girls_2178

I just added a new pin pack to the shop (and I restocked the Applet pin packs, too, if you're one of the folks that has been wishing for one). It's a little bit different than the usual ones, 'cause it has a "variety" of images instead of being a gaggle of girls.

I, personally, am crazy for the square house pin.

I'm so glad to hear you guys are enjoying the Valentines I put up on Wednesday! It makes me very happy that they were so well-received. :)
I hope everyone has a good weekend ahead...I'm going to be laying low, getting ready for one of the biggest weeks of the year for me (my birthday + Valentine's Day + my mom's birthday all fall within 4 days of each other!). I have high hopes for this year, and have some fun secret and not-so-secret plans at-the-ready, so it should be a good one.

"Nobody's Baby" Portable Illustration

A few weeks back, an awesome applet named Carly emailed me some photos of her freshly inked Nobody's Baby Now tattoo:
Carlytat
I think it looks pretty wonderful!
I get quite a few emails from thoughtful & conscientious folks asking to use one of my images for a tattoo. I always say "Yes, of course, just try to send me a photo"! It's one of the most flattering requests, in my book anyway.

Thank you so much for the amazing turnout/support for the update on Tuesday. I can never seem to make enough of those darn dolls! Don't fret about those gals, though...I love making them and plan to always have them included in the updates (for the foreseeable future, anyway).

We're mail-rooming it today (and probably tomorrow), so I'll be off.
Thanks, Carly, for the highest of compliments...and thanks to you again for the great update, my dear applets!

Handmade 2.0

In case you haven't read it yet, there is a really thoughtful and articulate article on Etsy in today's New York Times! So exciting. We picked up the very last copy at Borders today!

It's right here, and the fourth (and last) section of the piece is mostly about yours truly. It's a good read and the guy, Rob, who wrote it is a good egg!

Tees in the shop!

Some_girls_1937

The tees are right here!

Blue Moon Tee

Some_girls_1919
These pretty, pretty tees will be going up for sale in the shop tomorrow afternoon.
It's the "Big Moon" image in a different colorway (hence the title of the post!). They're beautifully soft 100% organic American Apparel tees, and I think they're my favorite Black Apple tees yet! I'll have just around 6-8 of each size (in S, M, L, and XL).

Worn Out

I first discovered Worn fashion magazine when I was living in Brooklyn. They had one issue lying around, and I snapped it up and devoured it (it's actually where I learned about Remix). I went back to the bookshop and begged the guy for more information about them...all I knew was that they were Canadian, since their website at the time  was either very tiny or nonexistent. Anyway, I LOVE this magazine. I have all of the back issues, and I just think that it's close to perfect.

So, you can imagine how flattered I was when a lovely writer from Worn emailed me about a piece they were doing about fashion in contemporary illustrator's work.  I was thrilled and only too pleased!

The issue just came in the mail a few days ago, and I thought I'd share the pages with my interview with you.

The text is a little on the small side, so I made pdf's, too:

The entire issue is really great, though, so I highly recommend ordering it (or better yet, subscribing & buying the back issues!). It feels good to support a really intelligent, thoughtful indie fashion magazine, so if you haven't bought yourself too many Christmas presents, you should shoot on over there and get Worn out for yourself!

Happy Weekend!

Update Friday & Lable Packs

Update

Be there or be square! Just kidding. But do try to be there, as there will be lots of pretty things. It might (might) be the last big update before Christmas, but I do have some tricks up my sleeve that I'm saving for a little while.

In other news, the adorable labels are now packaged prettily to resemble vintage bags of candy. Packs of 20 can be found in the shop!

I am really loving designing stickers right now.
Stickers make the world go 'round.

PS: Thank you so much for all the narwhal love! It does my soul considerable good to be painting.

Today's the Day...

for Holiday Cards, that is!
