Do you like the new Autumnal face-life the old blog got? I felt like it was time for a little change.
Today I'm here with another painting from the 'Forest, and a new edition to the world of my Alice books that I picked up Powell's recently.
Painting first:
Adeline of the Acorns 8.5" x 11.5" x 1" Acrylic on wooden plaque
I have such a love for the red-eyed individuals and creatures of this world. And I wouldn't mind owning that dress...no sir.
Aaand...the book I wanted to mention is this Mary Blair-illustrated edition of Alice in Wonderland!
It is really just as quirky and beautiful as any Mary Blair paintings ever were.
The paintings are taken from her concept illustrations from the Walt Disney film (she had a great deal to do with the look of Disney's Cinderella, Peter Pan, and Alice in Wonderland, which is why all three have such a similar sensibility and aesthetic).
I almost passed on buying the book, because quite a few of the illustrations appear in The Art and Flair of Mary Blair, the excellent monograph/biography about her (which I snapped up a few years ago). But there are also quite a few that don't, so now it too lives at my house. I also contemplated the Cinderella that was also released with her illustrations, but just decided on Alice for now. Lovely Alice.
I hope the week is going along nicely for you so far!
