Miette's emergency care cost quite a pretty penny, so I'm hosting a sale in the shop.
It will be August 13th and 14th, and every single thing in the shop is remarkably on sale! By taking part in this benefit sale, one is able to help out his cause while saving some money in the process.
Also, many of you have emailed asking about the particulars of Miette's recent debacle, and while I'll spare you the gory details, this is the bare bones of what happened last weekend: the little grey one threw up for 36 straight hours, was very sluggish and not himself at all. We took him to the vet after 24 hours of this, and they conducted x-rays which proved inconclusive, but showed that his intestines were abnormal. His condition was deteriorating, so by the next morning, my vet was so afraid that he had swallowed some thread/string (how could I ever forgive myself?!) that she began emergency surgery. It wasn't thread, but it was compacted paper and waste that was lodged in his intestinal tract. For the 2 days after that, he was in the care of the emergency pet hospital, and now he's in our care. He is currenly being positively drowned in love, in between being forced to take antibiotics and sleeping...
And all of your well-wishing isn't hurting at all, either. Thank You from all three of us.

So glad Miete is getting better. Our kitty did swollow a needle and thread once. She too needed surgery. The bright news is that in spite of that and using up about 8 other lives with daring dietary exploration, that cat lived to be 19! The kitties with lots of personality tend to use their nine lives well and live a long time!

I am happy to not only treat myself to one of your lovely prints, but to support your sweet Miette! My feline friend, Gigi was sick last year and it is so good to have her back in great health! We wish you happy healing!

My pooch Pablo and I send Miette our love, and hope she is dreaming of bird chasing and scratching posts!

I hope the "we love Miette" sale went well, I did pick up a few pieces on Gereral Fur's orders to support the puss fraternity. I can even get one of those cute bookmarks too.
I think you forgot to put the "hi there" postcards back up though, or is that a bargian for a lucky one.

How wonderful that he is ok and recovering. Unfortunate how expensive vets cost especially for surgery. I hope you find your sale a great success.

What a time you all had. I hope every day your little Miette is better and better and will heal up to be the perky kitty he's always been. He has a lot of exploring to do in his new place.
Your prints are all so lovely but it took no time at all to find my favorite. It almost popped right off the page.
Take good care of all your sweet selves.

Hi Emily,
So glad to hear Miette is getting better, we have three cats and I know how upset I would be if it was one of my fur babies. Tell Miette, three little cats from ireland wish him a speedy recovery.
L xo
PS great idea to have a sale because not only are we getting a beautiful print but also the knowledge that we are helping a beautiful little cat and his lovely owners.

I'm so happy to hear he will be ok - i have been checking this blog a lot these days, just to know. I have two cats myself and i love them to pieces.
Oh, and I will certainly take a look at the shop!

Oh Miette! My cats will eat anything. I'm constantly worried about what they will get into. I'm so glad that everything worked out for the three of you. You're such a good cat mother!

Yay! I just bought the little rock star prints for my little cousin who will be turning 13 this month. I've adored them forever and I think she'll love them too!
I'm so glad to hear the kitty is doing better and I'm glad we are able to support you in the midst of it all!

I am so sorry about your kitty. My mom is going to have our dog put to sleep because of an injury caused by a vet, and I am wrecked over it. So I am very happy for you that Miette is going to be okay, and I bought a bunch of stuff to contribute to the kitty-get-well fund. Hugs to you, and to him.

Poor little kitty, I am so glad he's feeling better. I have finally ordered some gorgeous prints that I have been dreaming over. Cat bills are expensive and I'm so so glad to help out ;).

My kitty has diabetes and we had quite a rough time of it at the get go, so I know a little bit of how you guys are feeling. Ferber (my kitty) and I send hugs to you and Miette and our best wishes for a full and speedy recovery.

Give the little grey kitty kisses for me.
I'll keep my fingers crossed for him. Good luck with your sale (which, by the way is neither tasteless nor tacky as previously declared by a rather tasteless and tacky reader).

Hey Emily, I'm totally allergic to cats so couldn't even stroke him better, so i'll send get better thoughts instead...i just wanted to add that reading all the nice things people write to you always warms my heart, sometimes the world can be a bit crummy, and it's so nice to know most of the world is full of love and wants to share it. And that's not cheesy it's just nice :)
love me and polly the dog x

I'm sorry to hear about your kitty! What a terrible feeling to think that you might have inadvertently caused her harm.
I made a purchase for you and her... Fern. I've always loved that print. Hopefully some of my Flickr contacts will stop by as well and make a purchase.
Best wishes!

Yaa such good news!! I am so glad to hear that Miette is on the mend.Off to the shop :)
Posted by: elmaelsiena | August 13, 2008 at 05:54 PM
My kitty did the same thing as soon as I moved to a new town...but it WAS a needle and thread. I saw her take it out of my sewing kit which wasn't put in a safe place yet. By the time I got ahold of her it was too late and off in search of a vet we went. I didn't know where a vet's office was or anything. Lots of $$$$$ I had the same situation, big scar, sad cat and my needle and thread back!
Posted by: Rory | August 13, 2008 at 05:19 PM
Hi Emily. Years ago my kittie did something similar...he ingested SEVEN FEET of string! His recovery was a little bit slow...actually he was at the vet for 5 days. But he did recover fully and I'm sure your little man will, too! Hang in there. xxxooo
Posted by: Melissa | August 13, 2008 at 05:02 PM
Poor Miette! I hope your little one recovers quickly
Sending lots of love and well wishes to you both xo

Oh poor kitty! This happened to my miniature dachshund, Harley, so I sympathize.... Speedy recovery to Miette!
Posted by: susand | August 13, 2008 at 04:15 PM
I feel for you. It's horrible when our pets are sick. My brother's cat, Javier, had surgery for the same reason. Only Javier liked rubber bands and dental floss. Now all dental floss is flushed.
Posted by: Rachel | August 13, 2008 at 03:25 PM
I've been wanting a picture of yours (the egg girl!) for over a year now. I'm glad I bought it yesterday at full price so the kitty can have the money.
Up here in Canadaland, money and medicine are such separate topics; I can't imagine having kitty worries and money worries compounding each other.
I hope you guys all feel better!
