The Cottage/Cookie Mystery
So, this post begins with a mystery. The mystery of why I have started to receive Cottage Living magazine in the mail. I thought maybe one of the moms (mine or Josiah's) was responsible, but nope. If anyone has any theories, feel free to throw them out there.
A very wonderful thing came of this mystery, which is these cookies that I have made twice in the span of one week, because they are SO. GOOD. I think they might be too good. And where did the recipe come from? Why, Cottage Living's March 2008 issue.
Here is the recipe, if, after seeing my onslaught of cookie-making photos, you feel compelled to break out the peanut butter. I usually tamper with recipes, but didn't with this one.
Leave it be.
We had very fantastic friends over last night, and I was a little nervous (because one of them is a little bit of a picky eater). However, I made my favorite chicken dish, and then these magical-mystery cookies for desert, and I think everything was a hit.
Enjoy! I hope the beginning of the week is off to a nice start for you.

Oh, these are dangerous cookies! I made them tonight, yummmm! The only thing I wonder about is that the recipe didn't say anything about refrigerating any leftovers, but cream cheese has to be refrigerated. I hope the cookies don't get mushy in the fridge.
Hmmmmm.....maybe it's just that nobody has ever had any leftovers!

Hi! Has anyone tried this recipe yet? My mom and I baked these last week, and the cookies were incredibly crumbly! Very tasty, but not very easy to pick up! Did anyone else have this problem?

Those sound fantastic--I'll have to give them a try! I was surprised with the cream cheese--I'll bet they are so yummy!

Hmmm... I think you must have my subscription by mistake! So, naturally that would mean, the cookie recipe should be mine. But I wouldn't mind if we just call it even and you can send me the cookies you baked.
Well, worth a shot, anyway! They look fantastic!

Would that picky eater have the initials R.B.? maybe not, but he is also a tough cookie...speaking of...I am so excited to try these cookies. Wow, very punny today. must watch out for that.

I get Cottage Living for free too - my friend got a gift subscription when she renewed hers, so I am getting one year free. Maybe someone put you down for their free sub. Or maybe it's a random act of kindness someone decided to send your way. Either way, thanks for pointing out the recipe - I haven't looked through my latest yet, now I can't wait!

ok, these look so fantastic! What kind of peanut butter did you use? I only have the natural stuff with salt in my house. I wonder if they would taste as yummy as you say they do with that. Did you use the non-natural kind? I am willing to break the rules for some yummy peanut butter fun! Thanks for sharing!

The cooks look delish. Henry slept in bed with us last night and at 3:00 a.m. he started talking in his sleep:
"HEY! I want a cooks! (cookie)"
over and over.
It was hilarious.
Will give these a try for sure.

Aaargghh! Why is everything delicious in life made of peanut butter!? Peanut butter anything used to be my favourite food, but then I got an allergy test and it was shown that I'm QUITE allergic. Aarrghhh! Now I have to lay low and avoid the peanuts, but they are soooo tempting. I wonder if I can eat an antihistamine first, wait a bit, and then eat a whole bunch!?! :P

Maybe you bought something that gave a free subscription. I know garnet hill is doing free Cookie mag subscriptions right now...I have earned about 3 free years already!

I know what you mean, I got yahoo magazine for four years in high school. I collected every issue and felt really cool that I got it for free. No one ever got it for me, it just happened.
Those cookies look too good, I'd eat them all. Sigh.

That happened to me once when I started to mysteriously get Oprah's magazine in the mail. I later realized another mag I had subscribed to shut down and the publisher decided they would send me Oprah mag instead. Are you missing another subscription?

The cookies sound great! I started getting a magazine a while back and it wasn't for like 6 months until the sender fessed up.

I received mystery magazines....then I realized that the payment was coming out of my checking account each month. I said "sure" somewhere to getting a "free" magazine subscribe...it wasn't that much of a mystery, I guess.
So, maybe your magazine is a nice suprise, or someone paid the subscription, but I would check your account each month to be sure!
Those cookies look yummy!
