Wee House Goodness
I've gone a tiny bit house-crazy lately...in real-life and drawing-life. One of my favorite past-times these days is looking at houses on Craigslist in the cities we're considering moving to. Likewise, in my sketching life, (like those creeping bunnies) these mod, fairy-tale cottages won't leave me alone. They are just hypnotic in their charm and simplicity. They make me think of an idealized fairy village, kinda simultaneously French and Scandinavian.
Hence the newest print to find its way into the shop!
The One Tree Digital print 8"x10"
The image is made of many, many wee house drawings that were sifted through to make this sweet little village just right. Huzzah!
And thank you very much for all the bunny-love from yesterday's post! I've got some dolls waiting in cut-out piles right now, so I have to go hop to it.
See you soon!

*heart* them. I remember drawing whole villages of houses similar when I was little and this brings back a huge wave of nostalgia. So adorable.

SO cute! I prefer just the one tree in your drawing-to show off the adorable little houses. But if it was to be an ideal little village there would have to be more trees-don't you think?

I think I would live in the wee-house with the black roof and red door.
I am a big fan of "red doors", guess what color my front door is.... ;)
Looking forward to your next "update"!

Daydreaming on Craigslist is the best. I do it all the time. I've finally moved out to the east coast and New Milford, CT has caught my eye. It's artsy and perfect in an ever so slightly creepy movie set sort of way. I hope you find the house (and location) that is perfect for you. Goodnight! :)

Coming out of the woodwork because of this post! I, TOO, am completely (and unhealthily) obsessed with house hunting on Craigslist in various cities my beau and I are thinking of moving to. Austin, TX would love to have you! You are a great inspiration!

I love how you can take the ideas that just bounce around in your head and turn them into something as lovely as this. I also love your strange little bunnies, you have such great ideas!

Can I live in the little house with the green and yellow scalloped roof? :)

I know what you mean. I'm thinking about moving to Providence and its so easy to get sucked into the gorgeously huge apartment postings on craigslist... seriously addictive.

I love it, the little homes really remind me of Brittany, France. I hope to go again soon if I can. I just love small towns and how simple and lovely their homes are.

If you look at the picture long enough, I swear that all the houses start swaying from side-to-side, and they sing a pretty song.

The little tree is so charming!
Posted by: Stephanie | April 16, 2008 at 04:18 PM
I have to say, I'm quite a fan of the little houses as well :) It is kind of a perfect little town there. I can see the choclatier and the patisserie and the boulangerie, don't you smell the fresh bread over there, and the coffee over at the cafe? The gentle spring breeze outside makes it a very lovely scene, indeed :)

Ooooooh I want to live in the house with the red flag on the roof :D I can definitely see these houses on fabric/stationery.
The mice are great too, they sort of look like they're sleepwalking in their pyjamas.

I love house images and this print is wonderful! I have had a specific house print/image floating in my head for years but don't have the drawing skills to realize it--I've tried several times. So I'll just buy the print :)
