I'm about to go update the shop...and I have to say, I think it's one of the best updates ever...maybe the best? Above are some of the super-sweet dolls that will be included today (excepting that one in the top-right corner with the black apple dress, she is all mine).
There will also be the limited edition of dolls from the Martha segment, little "mini-Marthas" and "mini-Emilys", tagged with a wee number:
Hurray! Off to the shop.

Thanks for the doll pattern! I made dolls for my girls for easter. They loved them and my boy likes the kitty I made him, but he would love to have a boy doll. I am trying to think of how to modify the pattern so he can share in the fun! I was surprised to see how much they enjoyed the homemade items I made them!

These dolls are amazing. I will have to stalk your etsy to watch for more! I like your idea on only creating as many as you please. I have made the mistake sometimes of creating based on demand rather than on inspiration and sometimes it made me hate my work. I won't let that ever happen again. It is just so much more meaningful to allow yourself to work in a more natural way, and the collectors really feel that. It's so much more special! :)

Everything is so beautiful! You have so much talent.... I could just get lost in your blog for ages I think :)

Hi Emily...
Further to my post above saying that I would need to make myself a doll in the meantime, I thought I'd show you my finished product...

What do you think???

Wow! Being a new fan I had no idea how quickly your art would go! I saw that you were going to update at 2 pm and around 2:30 I thought, "Oh, the update was today." I got to your store and saw nary a doll. I thought that maybe it was taking a long time to get everything uploaded. I checked back a few hours later and still saw nothing. I wondered if maybe there had been a delay so I checked your blog and saw that everything had sold almost immediately.
Ah, the foolish newbie. :)
Congrats on a great update!

Hi Emily,
Congrats on the great shop update! I am from Singapore and of course, I completely missed the update but I doubt I will be quick enough to buy what I wanted anyway, lol! Just a suggestion? I have been reading all these posts from people who didn't managed to buy a doll or a pin and thought: Why not next time you just update your shop WITHOUT telling anyone WHEN you're gonna update it? That way, some of us at this side of the world might have a chance at buying a doll or two. Just my two cents!
Cheers!

I completely missed the update. But thank you so much for sharing the "how to" on Martha! Of course, I will probably never actually get around to making one, and would much prefer a Black Apple doll... I have to get with it for the next update!

I agree with keeping the pink haired black apple one. She is the cutest by far.

WOW!! How exciting for you to be on Martha. She's one of my heros. I've been reading your blog for a while now and I just had to congratulate you. I love your talent and sense of style. More than that, I love how you are creating a life and a career for yourself on your own terms. Congratulations again!

All the dolls are sooooo cute! I am partial to the red-haired pig-tails one, though, since I'm a redhead myself. :)

Darn it! I was at work and missed it (again!). Maybe one day you can do a shop update in the evening when I can get to the 'puter in time! I'm so sad!

You are the bomb!

I live in Sydney Australia, and set my alarm to get up at 4:50am so that I would be at the computer with time to spare for the 5am update. You wouldn't believe it - but my service provider was down and I didn't get online until 3 hours later.
Super grumpy - especially considering the time of morning I got up! LOL!
Anyways - managed to get a cameo and a print I've had my eye on. I'm happy with that :)
Now I'm off to make my own version of a doll using the martha pattern to satisfy myself until your next update.
Congrats on the successful update - Oh to get my little mitts on an original!

Alas, I was teaching during the update. In the rare event that the paintings didn't sell in the first minute I just checked the store. They were really beautiful and I hope the next time I'm not in class! Well done Emily. If you ever do customs originals, put me in line!

I was sad to miss the dolls, they were gone soo fast.
Posted by: Victoria | March 19, 2008 at 04:00 PM
That was a whirl-wind update.. Lots of work for the postman now! Congratulations! Your success is so inspiring and fun to watch! :)
Posted by: tiffany | March 19, 2008 at 03:54 PM
I almost had your beautiful poppy painting but it jumped from my cart. Maybe next time I will be a tad quicker on the check-out button. After that jumped, I just sat back and watched how quickly everything else was purchased and then selected some lovely prints to console myself for missing out on an original. All in all, a great day!

Wow, Em, another successful update.
Add me to the list of those who were not quick enough.
Maybe one day you will do an update in the evening when we are off work?
Kudos!

I managed to catch one wonderful cameo !
'nacanacanère' (I have no idea how to translate this in english !...)
Means I'm happy, and kind of proud (considering how fast everything disappeared)
:)

Okay makes me feel better that others have no luck! And also makes me feel better that people have luck! LOL. I will just keep keep keep trying!! So lovely :)

...WOW!...is the first thing that comes to mind.
Congratulations on another successful update.
I'm surprised I got an emily & a martha doll.
Along with a couple cameos :)
My fingers were just to slow for one of your originals.
I am determined to one day have one of your original girls hanging in my home.
I shall never give up ;)
Have fun celebrating!

I finally got one of your cameo pins! Yea! I've been wanting one for months and months! Please be sure to make more and more and more!
Love, Susan

They were all so adorable! I had to be super-quick, but I got the one I'd been coveting (the red-head with the black beret).
Buying your dolls is surprisingly stressful ;) but worth it. Beautiful work!
Posted by: Becca | March 19, 2008 at 02:38 PM
I have no clue what happened. My finger almost fell off from hitting the refresh button. It did not show one single item updated. I think there was a glitch with etsy,...soooo pissed.
Posted by: Projectblancoyd.com | March 19, 2008 at 02:37 PM
So it's 20 minutes after your update and almost everything is done. You are amazing! Do you celebrate after every shop update?
Posted by: Jessica Jensen | March 19, 2008 at 02:28 PM
Yay! I got a mini Emily - but boy did I have to move fast! Congratulations to you! :) I watched the Martha clip online last night too. Lots of fun. Keep up the great work!
Posted by: elliebelle | March 19, 2008 at 02:23 PM
I couldn't check out fast enough for the dollies, either--she was doll-napped from me basket :( but I am getting a jackalope print. Jackalopes are huge in my town--but nowhere near as cute as the black apple ones!!
Posted by: readsy | March 19, 2008 at 02:21 PM
Thanks for the update! I finally got some cameo pins, but the cute doll with the beret was stolen from my basket :(
Posted by: Cristina | March 19, 2008 at 02:17 PM
Alas! Maybe next time....I had a Martha in my basket and I couldn't check out fast enough! :(
Posted by: Shannon | March 19, 2008 at 02:14 PM
Is there any other way of buying an original from you?...I was there on time and they were all gone
Posted by: Irene | March 19, 2008 at 02:09 PM
It is so difficult...but I shall resist!
Posted by: Sally | March 19, 2008 at 02:08 PM
