Buttons + Bird-babies
Well, here is the completed little lady Miette was attempting to bite the other day (he didn't succeed in his efforts, by the way...the painting is cat-tooth free):
The Button Collector 11"x14"x2" Acrylic on Canvas
Aaaand another new painting I've been working on with great vim and vigor:
Gosling and Cygnet 11"x14"x2" Acrylic on canvas
I hope you like them!
Happy Tuesday, I've got to go ready things for the update tomorrow at 2:00 Eastern (this is the clock I use, if that helps anyone out!).
xoxo

I just love The Button Collector. From one Button Collector to another....

Oh, I loved your buttons girl's sweater so much, I had to make one for myself!

It reminds me of my kindergarden teachers.
Thanks for the inspiration!

Once again, I feel like it's me you drew (in Gosling and Cyget)... i wish i could say why, somebody help me words here... what's the correct adjective for the expression her girls usually have... that feeling they convey, like they're all alone, they seem so fragile... and the tenderness with which they hold their animals, ... this is me you draw.

Both paintings are adorable but Gosling and Cygnet is standing out to me because of the adorable sweeping of freckles on the young lady's nose! Such a sweet little touch.

My breath actually caught in my throat when I saw The Button Collector. I think I must have this one to sdd to my ever growing collection of Black Apple prints. My house will be full of them.

Wow, your work is amazing. And beautiful. I like the frank, wistful gaze of your subjects in this particular one. Love the muted colours, as well.

I love all your paintings! So original! ^.^ So beautiful! Everything always has this slight haze. Like looking at an old photograph.

do you do portraits?
I'm thinking that would be to expensive for me. But if I had the cash I would get you to do a BlackApple-version of my daughter. Perhaps you should investigate this angle in your business. It could be done with a photo and description of favorite hobbies, colours, animals, songs, etc. Whatever would give you material to use in the portrait. It'd be expensive, but I can almost guarantee you'd sell some.

Alas, synchronizing the clocks won't help me. I'm one of your working class, day shift, fans. :-(
Good luck to all who have the opportunity to buy!

So pretty!!! I have to tell you: lately I've been coveting the pretty clothes your girls wear in your recent paintings. Especially that stripy-red dress and a top with *buttons embellishment galore*!
Posted by:Casey | March 18, 2008 at 07:49 PM
I _love_ the birds. Just beautiful, Emily. Nice to see you're not resting on your Martha laurels. :-) (Has anyone noted that Martha totally acted like Oprah with you, never letting you finish any of your sentences? Is it craft-world blasphemy to criticize the big M? Now I want to make a joke about the big _house_, but I'm not going to. That's called _restraint.)
Posted by:melissa Crowe | March 18, 2008 at 06:57 PM
Oh, they're so sweet! This soft palette feels *just right* and I love the little birds, how you've made them all downy and fluffy. Just lovely work - and what a treat to see so many new things from you lately!

I love your paintings. The colors are so dreamy! My husband bought 'Wonders Never Cease' for me for Christmas and I proudly display it on my mantel. People are always commenting on what a great picture it is. Love your work!
