A Little Wall I Like A lot

Ever since the whitening of the studio walls, I've been trying to keep it a little more "minimal" than it used to be. I'm not a minimal person, but I need for the studio to not overwhelm me.
This is one particular mini-wall I like quite a lot (it's in between two doors, hence, "mini" status). The shelf is vintage, and spray-painted a beautiful gloss cherry red...it holds lots of my favorite little things.
A Henry Darger image in a beat-up frame, a felt tree I made a few years back, those two gorgeous vintage-style (but new) plush chickies, Jenn's Frozen Charlottes, treasured vintage tchotckes, and one of my two beautiful Babette dolls.
Down on the right, you'll see a tiny framed sticker, which is my favorite sticker in the world (it came with that blonde Babette!) and I have known a lot of stickers in my day.
The wall also holds tiny embroideries from two of my favorite girls.
I have an irrational attachment to these wooden initials and old spools of thread.
And there's my little wall o' wonders!
We're winding down the weekend at the Black Apple flat, and I thought I'd share one hilarious photo from the proceedings. People always email and ask how I stay productive...but it's really "helpers" like this that make it all possible:
Nice one, Miette.
You've commenced to attempting to just bite the things that take my attention away!
xoxo

I love everything on your wall emily. Bekki and I both had a wonderful time watching you on Martha. You are just as sweet as we imagined you to be. Our cats are just as helpful as you can see if you look at my flickr pictures sometime. (knitalatte11 is my flickr name)

Oh for the love of kitties! Mine love to do this to my canvases, wood panels,paper.... you name it. Just never leave them facing the ground or someone will have a roll and claw fest!
Sometime get a small yardage of natural canvas and leave it on the floor and see what your kitty does. Its hours of entertainment and it keeps them from hitting up your already completed surfaces.

Hee hee.... I can relate with your "irrational attachment" comment on the spools and initials. Most of the time it isn't a monetary value that adheres us to these sorts of things, but rather, an emotional or sentimental value. My husband fashioned a ring out of a dollar bill for me back when we were still dating in high school, and it is worth for more to me than the dollar it was created with.
P.S. I love the wall display!

Thanks for sharing about the wonderful little things on your favourite wall! I think my favourite thing is still that squirrel with the mushroom drum. You didn't really mention it, but I still remember when you thrifted it. I like the jar of thread spools too. :)

i think miette
clawed my dolly...

I do believe the Miette is actually marking the painting as his posession and saying he loves it. There are scent glands around his mouth. Maybe some day in the future, dna will play an important part in verification of the original artist. Be sure to lick it before it sells. :-)

Heh, our cat Teagan chews on everything to get our attention as well. He seems to especially like wood, porcelain and metal objects, things that make a lot of noise :) That and my headphones, he always chews my headphones. Wacko. :)

my kitty bites all my favorite things if I do not give him attention! he knows exactly what will make me maddest if he bites it. he teaches me he must be loved or else! what silly creatures....

Miette is just using cat language for "I'm adorable. You should paint me sometime."
