An Aeroplane...

...will be taking us away tomorrow, and we shall return from our secret business on Saturday night.
Thank you so much for all the well-wishing, your guesses/speculations were really so sweet!

You're the best applets around, and I'll talk to you soon.
Happy Tuesday!

More Cuties...

I've been having a busy, but busy never-leaving-the-house weekend...which is a curious thing indeed. Josiah was out of town, so it's been much quieter than usual. He'll be back very soon, though, and I will be very happy and Miette will be jealous that it's not just the two muskateers anymore.

Two more cute dolls wanted to drop in and say hello, as Sunday draws to a close:

Top Secret

Some_girls_2208_2

I'm sorry that I've been kind of scarce this week, and that the scarcity will probably continue for another week or so! It looks like Josiah and I will be flying to New York early next week to do something that is,  for right now:
A.) A Secret
B.) Nerve-wracking
C.) Amazing

I'm going to be working, working, working my fingers to the bone all weekend long, and it all has something to do with that cute little doll up there at the top.

Happy Weekend, my sweet applets! And thank you for all of the sweet comments about the podcast from the last post...I'm so happy that people found it interesting/helpful/entertaining!

You Wanna Hear My Dorky Voice?

Appledress_headphones1_3

The very insightful and kind New Media/Marketing expert Antonio Gould (who some will remember from his visit at the Etsy labs last year, which I believe can still be viewed on Youtube) has produced a 5th segment in his podcast series. They're each about different aspects of utilizing new, Internet/digital  tools to build your business...and yours truly makes an appearance on the newest (Episode 5)!

You can listen to my dorky voice, and Antonio's thoughtful podcast here.
I feel very special that he asked me to appear on this segment...but now I'm a bit paranoid that everything I say sounds like a question.

Happy Wednesday!

We were in Nashville over the weekend, visiting two of my favorite people.
And I bet you didn't even notice I was gone!

I love Meg's "what-I-did-today" posts, and find them very comforting...so I thought I'd do one today.

You're under arrest, 'Cause you're the best...

1valentine

Hey, you guys!
Thank you for all of that incredible birthday sweetness yesterday. You ARE the best (and the title of my post came from a hysterically bad Serge Gainsbourg rap that we were listening to compulsively in the car yesterday). All of those sweet, well-wishing little notes...piled up so high that it took me a good long while to read each one.

Now it's time for me to say "Happy ______ to you", and I hope it is a nice one. I love Valentine's day, but not the stressy, spend-y version.  I love the version that was practiced in my house when we were young: we would all sit on the kitchen floor with doilies and construction paper and pens and markers and my mom, brothers and sister and I try to covertly make each other Valentines secretly, hiding what we were writing/drawing/cutting from the others. If you don't have time to do that, you can always print out a handful of these cuties.

I love the giving little presents to friends and family, and making things with your hands, and baking things. And the red and polka dots and hearts that are so pervasive. And those heart-shaped lollies as pictured above. That's what I love about V-day.

So Happy Valentine's to you and yours, and may the day be fun and sweet and calm.

xoxo, big time

Today I am...

25_2
We worked very hard yesterday to get everything done that needs to be, so today should just be fun with my mom and friends!
Josiah attempted a raspberry cake out of the Magnolia cookbook, which might've been a bad decision (should you always go with the tried-and-trues on birthdays?) because we're unsure of whether or not it will be tasty, and it is not a looker as far as cakes go. I'll let you know!

I really feel my age, so it doesn't feel strange at all to get a bit older. I felt like an old person when I was a little girl, so I'm just catching up, I suppose.

Change
Anybody who has hopped over to my shop in the last few days might've noticed a few changes about the prints section. I thought I should make a little post about it, just to fill you in case you have any questions about it! I've been deliberating on changing the paper that Black Apple prints are made on for the last 3 months or so, and after lots of experimentation with different options, we've now settled on a beautiful new paper.

It's a velvety, matte Epson paper, and the result is rich and beautiful. I am so happy with it!
Also, for the first time since the shop's inception (almost three years now!), I have raised the price of my prints. The increase is five dollars (so, they're now $18.00), and I deliberated on this for a very long time as well. It is very important to me for my work to be affordable and accessible, and to make a beautiful product for my customers...so I think we're in a good place to do both.

As always, let me know if you have any questions at all!

Red Ragamuffin Beret

Some_girls_2191

I finished the red version of the ragamuffin beret. It's a bit less ragamuffin-ish...which is probably mostly due to the more uniform yarn (and that I had worked out a few kinks this time 'round).

Happy Monday my dears!

Scarves + Future Scarves

I am in love with something that came in the mail last week....

Some_girls_2180_2

It is a scarf from a cool online shop called Lulette.
They have lots of neat pre-set designs, like mine (and you can choose the colors) or you can have your own message/phrase made into a scarf. Lovely!

Winterscarf

Here is the default color combination for the "I Like Winter" scarf ^

I've also been really obsessed with the yarns of Etsy seller Folktale Fibers. I've always been really drawn to art-yarn, and now I can do something besides just spruce up packages with it.
Here's one of my favorites from her shop:

Il_430xn18614307_2

She doesn't have that much in the shop at the moment, but I think that she's planning to update soon.

The weekend is going very nicely and very quietly (I've been watching Louis Theroux's BBC documentaries on Youtube while I work on projects, and we're wrapping up Deadwood season 3 (sniff).
I hope Sunday is treating you well!
