Sugar Shack

I love my mom and sister so much. They came to my apartment on Tuesday to make our annual gingerbread house (which is actually more of a candy-yard-art-assemblage of sorts).

The finished product...our house was so small that we had to use up lots of the candy on bushes and trees and things:

I am particularly proud of that nonpareil tree there!

Well, the shop has been put to sleep for the first time in history, and Josiah and I are leaving today for holiday visiting with both of our families. This is the first time the shop has been closed the whole time I've had it.

I'm very excited for Christmas to finally be here. I can't wait! I hope all you applets have the most wonderful of holidays, and I'll see you after the big day.

See you soon  & xoxo

It looks so yummy!

You did a great job!! It looks great.

I have yet to make a gingerbread house in my 37 years, so this weekend my two year old and I and family will be making one :) Not sure if my son or I will eat most of the candy..we shall see. Your's turned out really cute..looks like my little house, minus the super slick icy walkway I almost slipped on this morning.
Have a memorable holiday and enjoy your break.you sure earnedit:)

That house is adorable! My brother and sister and I tried making a gingerbread house last week and it didn't work at all. We ended up with several elaborately decorated gingerbread slabs and no house. :-)

what a cute gingerbread house! enjoy your holiday. i've enjoyed your shop this past year. thanks.

Oh! so sweet!!!
I love the tree
Happy holidays.

How cute! your photos are really more like artwork. Beautiful colors!

Your gingerbread house is darling... looks exactly like something out of a fairytale! And that tree is genius--how ever did you get it to stay together (and upright)?!

Wishing you a lovely Holiday and safe traveling!! Merry Christmas!!

Enjoy your holiday and vacation! You have definitely earned it!

aww how cute. I was soo pumped that i made a couple of them. One for work and one for home. I got a kit for the one at work from Trader Joes and it had to be the best gingerbread kit I ever used. Here is the link to the work party. I think the house might be somewhere in the background. http://projectblancoyd.typepad.com/project_blancoyd/2007/12/the-north-pole.html

Merry Christmas, Emily!

The plate under your gingerbread house.....the pattern looks a lot like this set of Mieto china I just bought. Is it Mieto? :)

Hi Emily,

Is that a table cloth or just a bit of pretty yardage? I love it.

Mmmm, I like the peppermint puff landscaping.

Happy Christmas/Solstice/Festivus, dearie, it's been a lovelier year thanks to your art being in my life!
