Happy Weekend!

Some_girls_1574
Sorry it's been so quiet on the blog-front this week. I've been hard at work on a top-secret wedding present (which you'll get to see, after it's been given!), getting orders ready and out the door, and yesterday, the thrilling task of extending my closet.
I have a small-to-medium sized closet, and that just won't cut the mustard for me anymore. I realized when I went to hang some clothes up yesterday that I was verging on a mini-panic-attack just trying to squeeze a cardigan in. So.
I got a free-standing clothes rack to serve as additional space. I know that lots of people really hate the way these things look, but I kinda like them. I guess it's the "shopper" in me (wink). And it really was absolutely necessary at this point (I like for everything to be hanging, so that I can see it properly...the only things that are dresser-ed are socks, undies, camisoles, and the two token pairs of pants). All my pretty sweaters and blouses are hanging up on the rack now, with the dresses, skirts, and knit tops inside.

This may well rank as world's most boring post, but I thought the picture (while grainy) was rather pretty. We're going out of town for the weekend, which I hope will be a nice break. It's always nice to be physically removed from the internet. I'll be back very soon, of course!

Happy Weekend, my dear applets...and Happy Octobering too!

I love the rack idea...but how do you keep it dust free? Unless, and this is quite possible, you are a much better housekeeper than I...

I am sure the wedding gift will be gorgeous!!!

I am sure the wedding gift will be gorgeous!!!

darling girl....I like how that looks too...though an ideal world for me is looking at clothes all the time.

:)

your shoe collection is to die for. sigh. sigh. siiiiiiigh.

Please update!! x

When all your clothes color coodinate in such a lovely way.. why not display them. The picture is stunning. I've been away for a couple of weeks and I can see I've missed lots of amazing things here as usual. :)
I love October!

I sooooo need to tidy up.....

You've got to be careful that the sun doesn't bleach your clothes. I have the same system but I always drape a nice fabric "curtain" over the clothes. :)

Hi Emily!!! So I was working on a electronic paper doll project and your nifty fashion sense inspired to do this little girl. You can dress her up yourself online. hehe.

Hope you like it.

hahaah ok. I completely understand.

(my bed is there to the left, and the hanging space continues along that wall haha)

this is an embarrassing photo but whatever..I never even had time to fully unpack in that apt. and look what happened..anyway, i had to take off the closet doors because, like you said, i HAVE to see everything in front of me, hanging, in order to put things together haha.

and 3. I don't have a picture of but yeah in my bf's apt. purchased a hanging rack from ikea (4.99 how could I go wrong?) and it is so helpful. And I don't mind the way it looks either, however, having so many clothes, hhaha, the trick is to hang the clothes on it that you wear most often, so they don't get dusty..and consider sunlight!

Anyway, I just had to share haha. One day, Emily, one day we'll each have a dressing room haha.

I dont even get a closet! All of clothes are in my dresser accept some sweaters on the top shelf. My hubby has taken over the whole closet!
Anyway, I think it looks nifty! Happy weekend!

You should try wooden hangers - those clothes are too good for plastic!

i dont' think this is a boring post at ALL. i love to see all your clothes, even if they are crammed onto a clothing rack!!! and look at that shoe collection - goodness! if only we didn't have a shoe policy at work!

i love the look--and the wall color!

What you need is a nice, slightly used, Lane Cedar chest...

Oh man, I love your style and the fact you have so many clothes you need a rail!! So many gorgeous pairs of shoes too! Have a great week end!

Have a lovely trip!

BLACK APPLE GARAGE SALE SET UP? IM THERE!
j.k

oh emily, please do tell me where you got the shoes that are on the dresser. those are EXACTLY the shoes i dream about and my little feet would love them so.
(and i love your closet, too!)

It's not boring! I want to come over and hang out and chat about sweaters and shoes while we look at your clothes! Maybe I'm missing my teenage years! :)

This is just what I need! I love it, great idea, extending the closet...-kb

Ohh my, emily even your storage space looks stylish!! lovin the ocd on the shoes too! fab girl!

I had to do that recently with my clothes too! I just didn't have any more storage room left. lol. Its amazing how many clothes you can accumulate, isn't it? ;)

Hope you have a lovely weekend and I can't wait to see the project you've been working on! :)

Ooh..you have so many pretty clothes..I love that picture and the way the cute shoes look all lined up on the bottom! Have a great weekend away from home!

Forget the clothes, I can't get over how many pairs of shoes you own!! Here in Ithaca, NY, I own enough shoes appropriate for three occasions: summer, church, and winter!

I like the picture - pretty, indeed!! (PS - I am SUPER excited to get my Alice in Wonderland prints and hang them in my daughter's room. Thanks for being such a creative soul!)

I used to have one of those free-standing rack things too. . . until it broke =(. . . but I do believe it helped me keep my sanity!

Emily...Are you an 'ANTHRO' member yet?
I'm sure you may me.
you have to sign up in store...
read more on my blog if you haven't heard.

I see some of your sweaters have hanging bits, must be wrap arounds or belts. But that would worry me with my two, very naughty cats! I hope your kitty is better behaved.

I love all your shoes lined up like that. And I actually think this might make getting dressed easier being able to see so much of your items out in the open.

Have a lovely weekend~

I too have a free standing clothes rack. I absolutely hate using a dresser, and need to be able to see everything to put an outfit together.

One day when we move my husband said I can have a room all to myself, just for clothes, and the walls will be lined with racks of clothing!!

I think it looks great. And now you can move the rack around to different parts of the room, or the house! The only space I have to use for extra clothes is my crafty room...and it MUST remain just that!
Happy weekending to you.
-Jessica

I love it Emily.... I can't tell you how much I want to do the same, but a certain someone doesn't want to SEE my clothes.
So I'll have to get creative. I dream of a walk in closet..one day!
Jenn

Is that a collapsible, rolling clothes rack? I think I have the exact same one! I bought it for craft shows, but I confess I use it at home too.

I like all my clothes to be hanging too because if I don't see it, I won't wear it. But it causes dilemmas or trilemmas.... I don't like to put clothes in drawers. But I love dressers, as furniture, almost as much as I love winter coats and blankets. And I hate empty, useless furniture. So what to do, what to do?

I suppose I could put the blankets in the dresser. Ah, thank you. You've solved a problem for me even as I type!

ahh how I lust after your wardrobe.
I have this problem of never being able to buy clothes formyself, not really even inexpensive ones. I completely wear out the few things I have.
I'll pay anything for beads, tools, & supplies (going shopping tomorrow for wire!) but I just can't bring myself to buy clothes.
I wonder if there's a 12 step program or something for me!!??

Love it! It looks so pretty! Love your shoes too!

I TOTALLY agree. I have the EXACT same closet issue (and I hate folding. I prefer all things to hang...I'm lazy like that). So, next to my tiny closet is a clothing rack. I've always had one (always had tiny closets I guess) and I love how they look. Not an eyesore at all to me. Mine has a little shelf on top for my most frequently used pants and the "laundry sorter" at the bottom. But I store things you don't wear alot in there and sometimes canvases (sadly).

My only fear is that my closet and garmet rack will buckle from the stress. I have had this happen to my closet in the past. I always think about splurging on an "industrial industry rack" vs. a Target one. One day maybe :)

And yours looks so pretty and colorful! You can "shop" in your own "closet".

I used to have 2 of these and 2 closets. I've paired down since but oh boy, I could build a collection right back. Of course, this will have to wait after this next lil wee one is born because maternity clothes are not as much fun and aren't necessary for the long run. I love clothes as much as you do so it's hard right now but at least I've got accessorizing. I would have loved to be your sister growing up and share clothes. The yellow and blue cardigans really pop here.
Happy Weekend to you too.

I'm jealous of your shoes!

mmm Octobering. What a great word. Happy Octobering to you, too, emily!

PS I have serious closet envy!

yess, wedding presents!!!
love your face

Happy Weekend to You, too! : )
