The Birds and the Bees and the Sampler and some Cameos...
Bonjour, Applets!
So, I'm poking my head out from under the enormous piles of mailing there is to be done today...and tomorrow...and the next day.
I figured you needed to know that my oatmeal cookies from Sunday were extremely tasty and have officially vanished as of a few hours ago. A happy Sunday afternoon:
What better way to usher in early fall than cinnamon-y oatmeal cookies (these had shards of chocolate, too, making them extra good). I just use the recipe on the top of the oatmeal box, excepting two..er...three things. I add about a 1/4 c sugar, 1/4 c oatmeal, and subtract about 1/4 c flour...this makes for very satisfactory cookies. And I told you I was immersed in the amazing decorations of all the fall/Halloweeny Martha magazines...
This combination of textures and creatures really made me happy yesterday. I didn't even realize until I went to post that I was exhibiting the birds AND the bees at once! So cheeky. Anyway, I replaced the buttons on this lemony sweater (don't worry! I saved the lemons for another day!) to make it a bit more fall-ish/switch it up.
I whipped up a batch of new cameo pins over the weekend:
They'll be included in the next shop update, which I'm thinking will be in about a week or week-and-a-half. I have to get all the sale orders shipped before I can finish up more work!
AND...Remember this little pretty tea-girl?
It's finally time that I can announce the Sampler's super-cool new product, The Sampler Select. This one is "home-y" themed, and SO lovely...I'm really tempted to get one for myself. It was curated by the sweet + creative Alison of Wonderland Q, and there are neat interviews with the contributers (you can read mine right here).
Isn't that house-box the cutest?! They're right, it would be the greatest housewarming gift.
I heart the Sampler! Keep it up, Marie!

I just found your blog and love it. I was delighted to see your version of the oatmeal cookie recipe and plan to try it. I have yet to find a satisfactory oatmeal cookie recipe and they are my favs. I hope your wists meet with my taste. Thanks!!

I really love how you change up your clothes. I am so afraid to "ruin" something. Maybe I just need a little confidence!
You are an inspiration!

Whoa mama! I love your blog.
This was such an awesome post. I'm especially partial to the cookie recipe. Now that fall is approaching, I am feeling the Cookie Love lately. You are craftastic!!!

As always, Emily, you are adorable, and as always, I REALLY WANT the new merchandise you've previewed here.
Now I have to spend MORE money.
Sigh.
But don't worry - I like spending money on lovely, handcrafted items from independent artists. I think we crafty ladies probably keep each other in business - the money I make selling pretty much goes right back into buying more handmade!

Ahh, yes, I do believe you can 'use up' a house. The house I am living in right now has been a home to various and sundry members of my family for the last eight years, all during difficult times in our lives. And I am so ready to move out of it; I think I just need a fresh start. While the house sheltered us during times of pain, it also seems to have absorbed that pain-- if that makes sense. So, yes, new house, new start-- it's needed!
The cameos are gorgeous and I adore those bee buttons. I really need to practice sewing more.

Hi there,
Your blog/etsy shop are a ginormous inspiration to me.
If you have a spare moment in between posting, crafting, and being awesome– I would love to hear more about how you found the time/money/courage to start your own cottage industry.
Happy Wednesday,

That's a lovely interveiw! I especially like this bit:
"it feels so wonderful to be surrounded by something that is so like the inside of one's own head."
Totally! And that's the way homes SHOULD be - not all colour co-ordinated and matchy and magaziney (making up words here, ahem).
I absolutely love reading posts about your homliness :)
Do you have any other interveiws online?

Neato! I was invited to contribute to one of the sampler selects too, (I think it's a different one with a sewing theme.) The homey-sampler is just too sweet, love it!

Long-time reader and first time commenter (as far as I can remember, that is)...
The cameo pins are brilliant; you've made another great use of your lovely art.
You're absolutely right- the sampler box is adorable; it reminds me of those little house boxes you get when you adopt a cat from an animal shelter.
Anyways, I'm off to buy a Halloween Martha Mag, and make some oatmeal cookies (since now I'm suddenly craving them).
Bye Now!

I really loved those lemon buttons, so happy you saved them! But I'm digging those bee's and that bird pin!
The thought of homemade oatmeal cookies is delicous....Im on no sugar through the HOLIDAYS! What was I thinking? It ends right before Christmas. I'm already making my list of sweets!
What a happy post, thank you!
