Lotsa dolls and lotsa books
Redhead: "I TOLD you it wasn't a good idea for all of us to try to squeeze into this cardigan!"
Blondie: "But I was hoping it would bring us all closer together."
Ms. Black-hair: (Rolls eyes) "Oh, what does it matter. We're going off to different homes soon anyway."
Pinkie: "Don't be so cynical."
A batch of new, pretty, personality-filled Sophie dolls for the shop update tomorrow! Remember, it's 2:00 Eastern time (I think I said EST, but we all know I'm just a forgetful Fran and it's actually EDT).
Also pretty:
I could no longer resist the stack-of-books bookshelf from Design Within Reach (or as I like to think of it, "Design Mostly Way Out Of My Reach"). I thought about it a great deal, and I was so pleased when it arrived today. I really love the illusion of an enormous stack of books, while also maintaining the function of, well, actually being able to get to one's books without having to un-pile the enormous pile..
Josiah says it looks like we have some sort of magical books, and I heartily agree

Okay. Ahem, I am having an issue. You see, I have this whole stack of books too. I was looking for a book on schooners today. It was way at the bottom. It was a work out.. I eased, I nudged, I attempted to wobble out... I ended up having to take everything down to get it.. So, what is the magic secret??? Or, is the workout the benefit??
Well, it looks darned wonderful, so who cares how you are going to getthe bottom one out.. hahahaha.
Funny enough, your girls just stare at me like I am not the smartest gal, while I attempt such feats...
Oh, and I am in love with your little dolly convo. xxo, V

yipes... out of my reach for sure, lol. I'm going to have to give in and buy some boring old bookshelves soon.
LOVE the dolls! My goodness I wish I could rationalize buying one... but with the cats about just yet it's not wise. :( ADORABLE!

This reminds me of a project I heard about from ReadyMade.

Looks pretty neat, but your shelf seems much more convinient.

I love that bookshelf. And I couldn't have imagined the dolls that cute!

You must have such a steady hand to paint the detail in their face like that. Sadly, I think I'm the messiest painter alive. They're adorable.
I have been eyeing one of those magical bookshelves myself over at cb2.com
Sadly I think our house has quite enough storage for my books as is. So the purchase as lovely and satisfying as it would be, just wouldn't be justified.

OMG I really did think you had magical books....it looks spendid, maybe I will need to get one, it would look perfect in my new studio.

Your dollies are chatty, too, I see! : )
I used to work in a library (that's me....Miss Librarian) and the 700's always looked magically stacked....they, however, would have easily fallen upon any poor art loving soul who might venture into their wilderness!

I just might have to order one of those bookshelves, as I love books but they are starting to cause some serious clutter.
I noticed a Diane Arbus book....have you seen the movie "Fur"? I loved it.

The dolls are super-adorable! And I love your room - the color, the furniture, the way you organize everything. It's so beautiful!

the dollies are adorable as is their bantering.
and that pile of books? yes, very suessian in deed - i really really love the look of that. Hmm...perhaps it might end up in one of your paintings. the big pile of books waiting impatiently next to Betty Bibliophile.

Those girls are up to something, I can just tell. Best split them up soon-like, or you're bound to have a mess in the kitchen and loose hedgehogs running wily-nilly through the halls.
And it's true. Your stack of books is indeed magical; (finally giving me the opportunity to make a totally weak segue in service of a thought that has been bouncing around in my head for weeks now and say) SPEAKING of magic books, that "Mary and Mitten" print in your shop? /lowers voice. I'm fairly certain it's not Mary at all, but rather one Miss Luna Lovegood, of Hogwarts fame. Whoever has the original hanging at home should keep an eye out. I bet sometimes she's not there.

I'm cursing my slow internet connection! I just missed out on your paintings and so I hope I get luckier next time you update! I wish you had a lot of little elves to help you make more beautiful work.

I can't believe almost everything was sold in less than 10 minutes. I'm so sad and a bit upset my browser was like in a crash because there were too much people in your shop, I miss everything I wanted to buy :(
hope you'll be doing another shop update very soon :'(

I'm wailing, sobbing over here...I had "What Does the City" in my cart and couldn't find my Etsy password.
