Avian, Chapter two
I blogged about the never-ending birdieness over at the Some Girls Wander blog a few weeks ago, and I already have to recycle my post title. Josiah asked point-blank a few days ago if I ever intended to fill my apartment with birds, particularly the living room, and I realized that I, inadvertently, had indeed made my little house an aviary!
In evidence, here are a few recent additions:
Sweet bluebird teacups that I have been coveting, given to me by my wonderful Mama.
A beautiful mirrored hook given to me by my lovely friend Elizabeth.
And, one of my new favorite things, this vintage-postcard riddled lampshade that we picked up in Nashville, while visiting the aforementioned Elizabeth.
So, bird trend, whenever you decide to depart, if you indeed ever do, it will be okay with me. I mean, I don't want to hasten your departure, but I think that I have enough birds in my life to live quite comfortably without another new flock always arriving every-so-often.

hello from london, birds here and birds there,,lovely birds everywhere. i have been having a birdtastic time recently and it was lovely to see a little part of your bird world.

Hurrah for birds!
I heart that tea cup so much! It would go perfectly in my collection. So any time you get tired of it...I can take it off your hands. ;)

Love that lampshade. The hook reminds me of a trio that were being sold at Urban Outfitters not too long ago. Very cute.

oh! what lovely birds. i certainly hope that the bird era is not at an end just yet, at least, not until I've made something of my birdy Liberty fabric and worn it around for awhile...

I LOVE your teacups and lamp and hook... all of it really! I'm still having so much fun using the sweet girl bird plane postcards of yours, too. I have been stuck in birdville for a couple of years & don't see signs of a rapid recovery. We created birds-on-twigs kraft CD covers for our recent wedding invites, found vintage silk blackbirds to perch on dogwood branches in the windows of our tiny chapel, and followed a link from your site to another and then another and discovered a wonderful bird/twig silhouette mobile to hang in the window of the little old house which holds the cool little restaurant where we dined with our friends and family after the ceremony. The bird wedding, I suppose. Plus, there's a silly little rescued/adopted bird upstairs that came with my sweetie, who any minute now will announce that he has awoken by breaking into the Andy Griffith's theme song. :)

Of, for birds sake...hee heee...Birds, Birds everywhere. Me too. They are everywhere. You see, birds surrounded my life before they were a trend. So, if the trend subsides, I will still love them. As I am sure you will too. But, I have to say, trends as such, make me sad... I think birds should stay around forever in little doses. Well, perhaps I don't have a choice, here is why. You see. I did a naughty thing.
When I claimed by very own bathroom at Mr. Lovee's, it was blue. Not a nice blue. A hospital glow blue, with a wanne-be, cute guest bath, rainbow shower curtain, circa 1971. I wasn't even born yet...
So, I decided to put a super heavy thick white paint on the walls. This was almost 7 years ago. And, as the hippie shack can be humid in the summer, I noticed a teensy little corner bubbling up....I peeled and found a treat...Wallpaper...Bird wallpaper... I tweaked the color of the birds, and now it looks like I will have to live with birds for a very long time. I just spoke about it in my world...You can steal a peek...

Love the lamp Emily! Can I ask how it's made? Is it a regular shade with a layer of postcards on top, or just postcards? Some people are just too clever for their own good I think. Well, I have had 2 hours of rest after being up ALL night painting and the first thing I did when I awoke was nestle in front of my laptop and see what's happening in Emilyland...it's always a pleasant read. Have a happy day!
