Look & Cook + Enclosures
Look & Cook is an incredibly lovely book by the lady who brought us See & Sew (which I blogged a little while back). I think that loads of people already have/know of these books (like Meg said the other day, I know that I'm "not your only news source"). They are new to me, though, and I am so taken by them. Like its sewing counterpart, it is purportedly for children...and truthfully, it would probably to a darn good job of teaching any interested little person their way around the kitchen. Or any big person who slipped through the cracks of learning the basics. However, we all know that a little more than half of the charm of these books is in their perfect vintage-modern design, and the fact that they are covered in sweet, vintage illustrations. (SO sorry for the unfortunate photographs today...it was 32 degrees and drizzling the whole day).
Again, with the lovely endpapers:
Some recipes that I will never make, but that are charming nonetheless:
and others I most certainly would...
And, possibly my favorite thing in the book:
This egg chart, which I find hysterically funny. I think it is because of my fondness for calling people Good and Bad eggs. I really want to frame this chart for my kitchen...and I think I will do that this weekend.
Non-book related, I recently designed/had printed some new business cards (fresh year, fresh cards) as well as a little "Thank You" enclosure postcard to be sent out with all Black Apple orders. Both with rounded corners, so super-exciting and snazzy (to dorky me). I had been trying to think of a little mini-gift I could use as an enclosure with my packages. Since they are almost all flat, and bending/poking is a number one issue, pinback buttons or any little object have always been out of the question. I adore postcards so much, I'm not quite sure why it took me so long to think up a little thank you postcard that could then, in turn, be used by the recipient. Certainly a big bunch of credit goes to Hillary for her string of genius postcards...
Both big boxes came today, and I'm very pleased!
The back of the business card obviously has my shop & blog addresses, email, etc. and is quite snazzy as well, even though I don't have a scan of it. So this is what will be keeping your orders company for the foreseeable future. Good company indeed!
xoxo

What an adorable book, I want it!! The cards look great too. It suits you very well. :)

when i was little, my first 4-H demonstration was on how to tell whether or not your eggs were fresh--so that little print brings back lots of memories...too funny.
i love your business cards--did you print them at a local printer, or something online? i LOVE the rounded corners!!

You are not the only dork, I swoon over rounded corners myself. I would tend to call us lovers of detail :) i too was wondering where you get your goods printed if you don't mind sharing.
Love the postcard! You have now forced me to buy something so I can get one. (As if any force was needed) :)

it's not dorky....I get excited over business cards and postcards too, really anything paper.
It is always a challenge finding the right little something to send out to people as a bonus little "Yay" gift.
I was sending little bags of chocolates for a bit, until I ate them all during a late night mail-a-thon.
I was very naughty.

I recently stumbled upon your blog and have been quite an admirer ever since! Your work is just lovely, and I absolutely adore the postcard and business card. Charming indeed! Incidentally, I just placed an order last night so maybe I'll be seeing them. Stay cozy in that drizzly weather!

Yay!!! Love the book, love the cards. Keep your eyes peeled for a parcel. I didn't get insurance. I am sad about that now. But how can you insure a wee... oops, almost let it slip.. 2-3 days and it will be there. Yippeee!!!

Love the post cards! I know I could not live without mine (also with mine I find the rounded corners a must) Isn't getting mail the best? Even when it's business stuff. sigh.

*hides behind sofa*
Um, err, actually, I've also been looking around like a crazy person trying to find a place where they do the round corner thing (for wedding invites, cards, and the moon).
Could you please, please reveal your source? I'd be eternally grateful..

No, *you* are lovely. I might have to place an order just for the new goodies, they're gorgeous!

That book is just too cute!!
Oh, and I must ask: where did you get your business cards printed? I'm trying to find a place to get some done for me, and rounded corner cards would just be perfect. :) I really love how both turned out...
